Just to add:

An attacker, no matter how veiled his attack, cannot help but leave something of himself: a glimpse of his personality, an insight into his character, even a detail from his past or current situation.

These snippets attach themselves to the vibration the attacker carries and it is that vibration, something on a totally different frequency from that of the victim, that one is able to detect and which makes an imprint on the consciousness of the victim. Sound like a bunch of New Age speak? Maybe, but it really helps me get a grip on what's going on.

Regards Michael's query, I only know that I have found a great deal of peace submitting myself to the teachings of Christ and St Paul, not, I hasten to add, to any of the layers of dogma which man has spread on top of that teaching, like a gloss on a fine renaissance art work. Peace in this, but also in knowing that God's grace is sufficient when my eyes and other pieces of anatomy wander temporarily. The power imparted in the grace that leads to self control is way in advance of any feelings of sexual power. Hey! The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. That's enough to thrill every living cell we possess. The body rejoices and groans for redemption at the same time.

Stephen, you paint a vivid picture of some of your experiences. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions.

It sounds like these attacks have a distinctive feel and quality about them that communicates differently from your own inner "stuff." If nothing else, there seems to be a lesson for all of us about dabbling with psychics and occultists. The metaphysical openings created through such can create vulnerabilities which dark powers can exploit. I don't believe they can access the deepest core of one's being without explicit permission, and especially if the Spirit of God dwells there, but they can obviously wreak havoc on other levels.

I shall pray that you will be delivered from this, Stephen, and ask that others do the same. Surely that can't hurt anything.

I appreciate this, Phil, and really believe that the prayers of believers have a powerful effect on all of this.

Despite all the harassment, I, like you, believe that the inner core of the man cannot be touched if Christ and the Holy Spirit dwell there. This fills me with so much joy!

About 5 years ago I met a fellow in a prayer group who had over come a 15 year pornography addiction. I asked him how he did it. He said that he put his armor on every day. He would ask me, every time he saw me, "Did you put your armor on today?"
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:12
The Orthodox mystics speak of the battle more than some other, more modern, more psychological and rational schools. Perhaps some
of the modern "schools" are actually run by some of these entities.
