Your formal retreat time has come to an end, but hopefully not the healthy practices you committed yourself to for these days. The whole idea of a retreat is to help focus or re-focus your life in the light of God’s love. What helped you to do so during the retreat will continue to be of value in the future; media fasts, proper diet and exercise, prayer times, loving mindfulness, and so forth are all good and worthy practices through all times in life. One great help during a retreat is to have scriptures chosen to pray with each day. Unto this end, you might consider using the Lectionary Readings for daily liturgy. see http://www.usccb.org/calendar/...owLit=1&action=month for these readings. Readings for the liturgy of the hours can also be used. see http://universalis.com/ for readings through the hours. Spiritual direction is an excellent way to continue to discern God’s presence in your life. Even if you did not make use of a spiritual director during your retreat, you can begin any time. - see http://shalomplace.com/direction if you do not already have a director. The website for Spiritual Directors International also has a listing of directors available in your area. Prayers and best wishes as you continue your journey. Please feel free to make use of this discussion board and the resources at http://shalomplace.com to assist you on your journey. That’s why we’re here. - - - Use this thread to share your overall experience of this retreat. Be sure to note what was helpful, unhelpful, and what could be done to improve the process. If you'd rather not share in public, send an email to phil@shalomplace.com | |||
