I'm coming to appreciate Lewis again for the first time in 20 years. Thinking he was old hat I sort of left him behind, but now picking him up as a useful tool in relating to the postmodern and postChristian culture I find myself in. Someone else is reading him too - about 3 million books per year's worth! Perhaps some kind of rallying point for discussion?

In book four chapter one of Mere Christianity, CSLewis writes: "What God begets is God; just as what man begets is man."

Here is the entire text of The Abolition of Man, which could be called "and how did we get into this mess?"

The appendix and second chapter is about the Tao, and I like that indefinable word akin to "The Way,"
which was the original name for the Christian path.

How can we get back to the Tao?

Most people believe that they are actually thinking when all they are in fact doing is rearranging their prejudices. -- Mark Twain

It's a serious problem in discussions which carry
a great deal of emotional baggage. Matters of a philosophical, psychological, sociological or religious nature (mostly what we deal with 'round
here) often tend to carry a great deal of potential fireworks.

I wonder is something akin to the Socratic club at Oxford frequented by Lewis could even exist today.

Thanks to C.S. Lewis, Peter Kreeft, and johnboy who first brought bulverism to my attention for keeping me on my toes. Smiler
