Friends all:

If you go to this Princeton University website:http://noosphere.princeton.edu/
you will find something very interesting.

Below is an excerpt:

[There you will find graphs that] show the behavior of the Global
Consciousness Project's network of 38 REG devices called "eggs" placed
around the world as they responded during various periods of time
surrounding September 11.

These eggs generate random data continuously and send it for archiving and
analysis to a dedicated server at Princeton University. We analyse the data
to determine whether the normally random array of values shows structure
correlated with global events. The underlying motivation for this work is
to discover whether there is evidence for the existence of a global
consciousness that might perceive and react to events with deep meaning.

The whole world reeled in disbelief and horror as the news of the terrorist
attack and the unspeakable tragedy unfolded. The EGG network registered an
unmistakable and profound response.

One way to think of these startling correlations is to accept the
possibility that the instruments have captured the reaction of a global
consciousness that is beginning to form.

p.s. one may wish to consider this in the context of our reincarnational-type phenomena discussion vis a vis morphgentic fields and associated memories

KiKi,

I visited the site and am ready to call more attention to this, only I'm not really sure I understand what was going on there.

What's a REG device? What does it mean when they say it "generate random data continuously and send it for archiving and
analysis to a dedicated server at Princeton University." How would human emotions effect this?

Please translate this to us.

Thanks,

Phil

Watch for this clue in the text below: "isn't diminished by distance shielding, so it apparently isn't brought about by something physical like temperature changes, or sound waves, or electromagnetic radiation. Instead it seems that information is the important thing."

You ask HOW and that they do not speculate on that except to list a few examples of HOW IT IS NOT affected by humans or human consciousness. Our current understanding of physics and biology don't fully explicate such a phenomenon. They do know WHAT they are observing but can't otherwise explain it.

Of course, you can see they are implicitly suggesting nonenergetic causation, nonlocality, superluminality, etc and focusing on INFORMATION.

That brings to mind Sheldrake and Bohm and Jung and Arraj's __Mystery of Matter__ which is available in theCollected Works Online -Arraj, does it not?

from their site ver batim:
[They] use devices called random event generators (REG) that usually produce a continuous sequence of completely unpredictable numbers which can be recorded in computer files. Experiments have shown that human consciousness can make the string of numbers slightly non-random when people hold intentions to do so, or when there is a special state of coherent group consciousness. The difference is very small, but statistical analysis demonstrates that this correlation of the REG behavior with something about consciousness is real. It is as if our wishes could change the 50/50 odds isn't diminished by distance or shielding, so it apparently isn't brought about by something physical like temperature changes, or sound waves, or electromagnetic radiation. Instead it seems that information is the important thing. of a coin flip ever so slightly.

It turns out that this small effect of consciousness on the electronic REG The data that we collect is changed from an expected random condition to a a slightly structured condition, detectable by statistical tests. Such structure implies that the numbers are not completely unpredictable, and that we can expect to see trends or patterns that should not appear in truly random data.

The Global Consciousness Project is a natural extension of laboratory experiments and field measurements of group consciousness, which show that that resonance and coherence of focus can produce structure in the REG data. It uses a network of "eggs" hosted by people around the world. The eggs are computers running software to collect a 200-bit sample once per second from an attached REG, and to send the data over the internet to a server where it is archived and analysed. We examine the unfolding array of data to see whether it is random, or if there is evidence of structure that corresponds to major events in the world's consciousness.

Results from statistical tests of this question confirm the basic hypothesis that powerfully engaging events will affect our measurement system, the network of eggs. In a majority of cases, the data do show a deviation from the chance expectation for random numbers, in accord with our predictions, and the overall accumulation over dozens of individual tests is highly significant. It is good evidence for an anomalous effect that is correlated with events in the world, and it may be evidence for an evanescent global consciousness.

LESS AMBIGUOUSLY:

That brings to mind Sheldrake and Bohm and Jung AS DISCUSSED IN Arraj's __Mystery of Matter__ which is available in the Collected Works Online -Arraj, does it not? Eeker

I'm having a bad air day or something!

from their site ver batim:

LESS AMBIGUOUSLY : from THEIR SITE of course refers to Princeton Univ and not Sheldrake and Bohm and Jung and Arraj
Big Grin

although I'll betcha their morphogentic fields intersect heavily! somewhere in the noosphere!

Thanks, JB. Fascinating indeed! Indeed! Indeed!

Glad to see you enjoyed posting so much on this thread. I'll be happy to give you a high member rating if that's what you're after.
