I've been doing some research to find good movies for our "Movies with a Message" series at the retreat center, and came across this one, "Monsieur Vincent," on the life of St. Vincent de Paul. It's from 1947, French, black-and-white, winner of several awards. English subtitles (thankfully). Very well done. If you're an Amazon Prime member, it's available for free, streaming.

What an amazing man and follower of Christ St. Vincent was! If you've ever wondered what the spiritual gift of mercy looks like, I think he is one of the best examples in Christian history.

Our Church parish is St. Vincent de Paul, so I already feel a closeness to him because of that. It might be worth noting, too, that he is one of the incorruptible Saints, his heart almost perfectly preserved.
