This forum is now expanded to encourage reviews for movies as well as books.

Most of us seek a good book or movie from time to time, and if you have only a limited budget and time for this (like I do), you'll want to spend it on "good stuff." Let's help each other find out what that might be.

It'd probably work best to start a new thread for each movie or book, but if you want to do one on an author, director, actor, etc., that's fine.

You can also spice up your review by posting a link to the book on Amazon.com. Please use this link to search for the Amazon url; navigate to the Amazon page and copy the link up to /christianspiritu/ but not beyond. That will give credit to our bookstore for any sales that might ensue.

You can also use the "img" tag to insert pictures and movie clips. Use the [ ] brackets on either side of img and /img to designate the url to your images. UBB will do the rest.

Posting the url to the movie traileer is also a good idea. Use the URL code link. Here, for example, is the one for The Alamo.

You can find a good collection of trailers at http://www.apple.com/trailers/

Phil, am I doing it wrong are have the procedure perhaps changed?

Brad, any search originating from /books/index.html will bring a credit to the site. Just forget the rest of those instructions. The new search form automatically gives credit.

OK, I see what you mean now, Brad.

If you do a search ON Amazon.com, you'll come up with a URL like
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi...8243/qid=1102698276/
sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-6424996-5385508?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Change that to:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi...43/christianspiritu/

Okay, so let's try it:

Here's the raw url from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi...408?v=glance&s=books

Here it is modified to line Phil's pockets...err...I mean to support spiritual discussions:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi...14/christianspiritu/

It works! The final url will change to something different but I suspect that is some internal thing at Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi.../002-1070618-3402408

Thanks for the help, Phil!

Umm, on second thought, did I do that right, Phil, or do I need to remove the "qid" part of the url?

They say they'll take anything that has the referrer in it. The qid is your own Amazon.com ID, which they'll no doubt grab on the next click from you cookies. I clip the URL at that point and it works fine.
