In September I discovered a form of Japanese prose poem linked to haiku poetry, called haibun.
Like haiku, it has a kind of Zen feel. I've really taken to the form and have been fortunate enough to have had a few of my early attempts accepted by notable haiku journals. Have a look at: http://www.contemporaryhaibunonline.com/ A couple of mine appear there, entitled "Coastal Town" and "The Orchard". See what you think. As a way of expressing pivotal moments in life in a detached, understated way, the form has no equal. |
