Yes, Merry Christmas! Thanks to you two and the many others who have helped to build this resource center.
-- I've been journeying with a tough bug of a cold for almost two weeks -- worst one I've ever had. It's helped me to appreciate the simple blessings, none the least of which are good health and a night's sleep. -- Blizzard outside right now! Looks like we'll have a white Christmas in Wichita, KS. |

Phil--
You KNOW I'm gonna have to lay hands on you and pray for healing, don't you?? Once you see a few people get relief from pain and suffering through your prayers, it's hard to look at sick person and not see them as a potential target for Jesus to heal!! What an awesome blessing... Come Holy, Holy Spirit... |

Thank you, Shasha. I welcome your prayers; I'm sure they are helpful.
Sounds like you've come to a sense of healing ministry? |

Phil and all:
Phil, I hope you are feeling better. They say a cold can be very cleansing and prevents a worse illness from occuring. That's why there's no cure for the common cold. A blizzard, huh! Yesterday it was almost 60 degrees here. Today it is VERY windy and blustery, but no white Christmas predicted. May all at Shalom Place have a very Merry and blessed Christmas. Katy |

Phil--I'm not sure yet. I feel very much like a 'work in progress' in terms of learning about God's healing power. But I'm with the many well-respected healers (like the MacNutt's, Bill Johnson, John Wimber)who say that all Christ-followers "get to play" in the healing ministry, that it's not just for the select, Holy few. Every parent should be praying for their children, every husband-wife team should be praying for their marriage, every Christian is called to praying for healing in some form or another. But this kind of passion seems flow from those who've experienced a Baptism of the Holy Spirit, like a personal Pentacost. But it's complicated because some suffering is redemptive and we wouldn't want to pray against that. Some suffering is clearly self-induced and then there's the unconscious resistance to pain relief and the many ways in which humans are neurotically gratified by their suffering. But once in a while, I'll look at somebody's face and see/realize, "No, this is wrong...this thing has got to go!" Usually, I pray in tongues; it just pours out of me. People always feel better, usually reporting that they feel more peaceful. That seems to be the most common response. A few times now I've seen people go through a retching, coughing, heavy exhaling type-thing that suggests that some polluted spiritual matter has exited their body. Many people feel like they've 'gotten' something from prayer even if there's no immediate change in their condition. I think it's not merely psychological reassurance, but something of God's touch. Well, I didn't mean to get into all this, but you asked a big question of me. God's peace to you all and Christ's blessings! Shasha |

It sounds like something of a "word of knowledge" comes to you at times to direct your ministry of healing. I've had that happen a few times and it's helpful when it does. Otherwise, I think we can always pray for ourselves and others to be healed and delivered of anything that prevents us from growing in grace. Sometimes, as you say, we are left with certain problems and sufferings which are actually instructive, or conducive to growth. It's been difficult the past two weeks to see how the common cold might serve such a purpose, but, amazingly, there are good things that have come of it.
Oh well, we've strayed a bit from the thread topic, but that's OK. A happy, healing Christmas to all. |
