Thus saith Howard Dean, loudmouth leader of the Democratic Party now:
- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,158898,00.html Dean told a forum of journalists and minority leaders Monday that Republicans are "not very friendly to different kinds of people; they are a pretty monolithic party. ... It's pretty much a white, Christian party." Challenged on that during the televised interview, Dean said "unfortunately, by and large it is. And they have the agenda of the conservative Christians." "This is a diversion from the issues that really matter: Social Security and adequate job opportunity, strong public schools, a strong defense," Dean said. Funny, but I thought those were the issues President Bush has been addressing head on. The former Vermont governor also recently raised eyebrows when he told a group of progressives that Republicans "never made an honest living in their lives," a comment he was forced to explain a day later. What a mouth! The Democrats ought to hire Donald Trump to give this guy a message - - only, he is trumpeting what seems to have become the Party's spirit . . . sorta. |

That statement has, of course, obvious racial undertones and its meant to. African-Americans are an important part of the Democratic coalition. If Democrats were to lose them in substantial numbers they would take some serious hits politically. You would think such obscene and offensive comments and beliefs would be quickly weeded out of the party that supposedly was the party most sensitive to such things. But of course, such things are revealed time and again in the Democratic Party to be about power, not principle. Basically this is ideology-run-wild. Theres nothing much to stop it. Its anything goes unless somebody inside the party puts a halt to such nonsense and nobody is willing to stand up and be counted. Democrats will race-bait because there is (or they think there is) no downside for them to do so. Their propaganda, after all, has been effective in grabbing and maintaining the black vote in overwhelming numbers. Because Democrats are much, much more power-oriented than principle-oriented this makes it easy for party members to look the other way, especially once they see the results of such propaganda. And Democratic anti-white propaganda also seems to play well to a large section of the well-meaning, but misinformed, white electorate via white guilt or at least there hasnt been any noticeable backlash penalty of as yetunless you count all the lost election both nationally and locally. Postmodernism, Marxism, and a number of other deconstructionist isms have paved the way for this guilt and they have been pervasive enough that many people have forgotten which is the party of Lincoln and which is the party of Democratic Southern Racists such as former clan member, Senator Robert Byrd. Racism obviously doesnt split neatly and completely down party lines, but thats the whole point. Something must account for the reason that over 90% of blacks voting Democratic and its not because 90% of racists are Republican. If you ask me, the real racist party is the Democratic Party. They have, in my not so humble opinion, used African Americans badly -- their exploitation is almost reminiscent of plantation days. To African Americans we need to pass on the optimism and the American Dream, not the self-serving gutter language and hateful, envious, pessimism of a Howard Dean. |

Answering questions from Tim Russert two weeks ago, Dean had no regrets about his April mockery of Rush Limbaughs drug addiction in Minnesota. He also defended his statement last month in Massachusetts that House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R., Tex.) ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence down there courtesy of the Texas taxpayers. To Russerts objection that DeLay has not been convicted of anything, Dean replied that DeLay is under investigationThis gentleman is not an ethical person, and he ought not to be leading Congress, period. He had taken the bait: MR. RUSSERT: You said in December of 2003 that we shouldnt prejudge Osama bin Laden. How can you sit here and have a different standard for Tom DeLay and prejudge him? DR. DEAN: To be honest with you, Tim, I dont think Im prejudging him Hee hee! Self-destruction in the works! Problem for the Democrats is that Dean IS an authentic spokesperson for what the party has become. Moveon.org and Michael Moore have come to have too much influence, and Dean is their man! |
||||

Oh, that was a killer question by Russert.

Very well said fella's.
People who see themselves as "Democrats" have no idea what the Democratic Party represents. Doesn't Dean's statement about the Republican party make him a bigot? I mean what does Dean's message say other than vote Democratic help defeat whitey. With commencemnt season here I have heard first hand some extreme stuff. One speaker discussed how by 2050 whites will no longer be the majority ethnicity in america. Another explained post-traumatic slave disorder. This is were the heart of the democractic party operates. They are so far left that they think the center is right wing radicalism. Dean is the poster child for the self hating white male who is here to make up for the sins of his fore fathers. Didn't Micheal Moore teach us about stupid whitemen? The thing that bothers me most is this is really how extreme and radical the Democratic party has become. During the campaign Micheal Moore did not sit up in the VIP booth at the DNC for nothing. The person running moveon.org at one point took over the operation of Kerry's website. Everything is bait and switch with the Democratic agenda. For example what has been going on with the Federal Judical nominees the past 4 years. The Democratic party line on the issue is that they are protecting us against radical right wing judges and the Republican parties extreme lust for power. The filibuster has become their duty. The only problem is that in reality the ones acting radical and extreme are the Democrats themselves. By nature the filibuster itself is a radical and extreme measure. The filibuster brings Democracy to near anarchy by stopping the function of government. What are the consequences for stopping the function of government? Delaying policy? These actions effect people in real ways. Hay I saw that "Meet the Press". |

Well, like I've said, it's a sad thing to see what's happening, as we really do need a two (or more) party system to present options and to keep the other party from running amok.
The predominant "spirit" of the Democratic Party now is "inclusivism" and "multi-culturalism" -- very Green stuff in terms of Spiral Dynamics. There are surely valid concerns, there, but it's way over the top to characterize the Republican "spirit" as the opposite -- primarily racist and facist. That's such ridiculous "straw man" thinking that no rational person can take this seriously . . . which is a problem the Dems will never overcome as long as Dean leads the Party and people like Moore and groups like MoveOn.org are given significant influence. |
||||
|
Doesn't Dean's statement about the Republican party make him a bigot?
Thats not the way it works, Brother Rico. But let me first say that my own heart is not free of bigotry. But I dont freak out about that because I figure stuff like that is innate to human nature. Its deep in our DNA. It provides a distinct survival advantageat least during those times when the solidarity of the tribe was all that counted and all that mattered. Its my firm belief, and this is from experience, that liberals, by and large, are less comfortable with their innate tendencies toward racism. So they lash out. And they appear to me to be among the most racist people of all. And thats simply because they havent dealt with it face on. They keep blaming others for it. So the way it DOES work, at least in the Democratic Party and among liberals, so-called "progressives" and leftists is that one insulates oneself from at least appearing to be a racist by one, of course, being a liberal Democrat (and remember that appearances are more important to liberals than what is actually in ones heart), and two, scapegoating someone else. That shows that one is REALLY serious about ending racism and that one is REALLY on the right side of the issue. Of course, thats not to say that this still doesnt sometimes play itself out toward good consequences, but they are often accidental and unintended. One day more and more African Americans are going to wake up and realize that those people who are working for a strong economy and a less intrusive government are the ones who are strengthening everyones ability to pursue the American Dream. And one day more and more African Americans (let me just reduce that to a more succinct "Americans") may come to the realization that the people planting envy and hatred have done so little to actually improve their condition. |
||||
|
They are so far left that they think the center is right wing radicalism.
I think there is much truth to that, Brother Rico. Im not sure most people, even those more astute people here, realize just how radicalized, at least the leadership and think-tanks of the Democratic Party, have become. Im not sure if the rank-and-file, even of people who consistently vote Democratic, understand the racist, Marxist, socialist, and even Communist undertones to that party, but they are there. Contrast that with the Republican Party where racism is a definite institutional no-no. People such as David Duke are quickly weeded out, and as much distance is put between them and official policy as possible. But this is not so on the Democratic side where you have the likes of Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan to name an obvious few. But to name those two is to pluck only the very low-hanging fruit. The racism of a Michael Moore or Howard Dean is not at all hard to spot and it is only because of the complicity of the liberal press that they not only get away with such racism but are encouraged to do so. I can assure you that if the press were more sophisticated and did not have its own strong axe to grind that there would be no end to the opportunities to "Trent Lott" quite a few of these Democrats, every night, and for months, if not years, on end. That they do not do so is a sign of a sort of cognitive dissonant racism. They attempt to purge and cleanse themselves by dealing in superficial shows of solidarity not caring a whit that many of their ideas are far more destructive than constructive. Its the narcissism in them showing forth. All that matters is how they feel, not how others are truly effected. This is simply, in my humble opinion, a matter of more and more people being willing to stand up to these bullies and exposing them for what they are. That is asking quite a lot from most people because, frankly, it is all too easy to be hung our to dry and to be hung by public opinion especially with a very passive-aggressive-type press that loves to sort of cleanse its own unacknowledged racism by scapegoating others. Thats the dynamic involved and its a tough one to break. But eventually it is the truth that will set us free. Instead of trying to set blacks and whites against each other, as the Democrats do for political gain, it is up to each of us in our own personal lives to break down that wall with our personal conduct and personal generosity. Its a pity we have to do this in spite of a public policy endorsed by a huge segment of the population that still treats African Americans as if they were second class citizens by way of quotas, and with attitudes that are still quite condescending. African Americans should not be viewed as wards of the state. They should be viewed as Americans equal partners. And that also means equal triumphs and equal struggles and sometimes unequal triumphs and unequal struggles, at least individually, because a state that tries to guarantee anything else but equal opportunity is messing with tyranny and institutionalized racism itself. |

Brad you seem to run loose with terms like communists. I wish it were the case that I could say Brad that is going a little extreme in characterizing todays Democratic party. Sadly you don't have to go far in finding it. It has been displayed on a national scale and no one even raised an eyebrow over it.
During the election the protest that took place in NYC before the RNC was organized and sponsored by a group called United for Peace and Justice. One of the leaders of this group is named Leslie Cagan. Leslie Cagan if you scratch at the surface is an admitted communist. She has spent time over the last thirty years living in Cuba and extolling the virtues of Castro. Members of United for Peace and Justice praise the likes of kim il young of North Korea as a great man. You can find news quotes from the day of the "Peace and Justice" march before the RNC made by leaders of United for Peace and Justice saying they were marching for the rights of the Iraqi Resistors. These are the people that were running the show that day. This image is the very front of the protest march that took place before the RNC. That is Leslie Cagan in the middle between Michael Moore and Jesse Jackson. Michael Moore had just been given a VIP seat at the DNC. He sat next to former President Carter. What more is there to say about Jesse Jackson. These men are proadly leading the march organized by a bunch of communists for the right of the Iraqi resistors to kill coalition troops and Iraqi civillians. The average Democrat has really not a clue who has taken control of the Democratic party. |

Indeed. And that's a great example you pointed out. Communists organizations are behind the funding a quite a few liberal or leftist causes and web sites. If you want specifics I'm going to have to dig out the relevant articles and facts. Both Mona Charen and David Horowitz, I believe, have written about this. But a lot of groups, including church groups who support them, don't seem to care. It's the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing, I suppose. She has spent time over the last thirty years living in Cuba and extolling the virtues of Castro. You don't have to look far for people who are in praise of Castro. Seems to me Susan Sarandon and some other Hollywood deep thinkers have said many a word in praiseand more than a few Democratic politicians. Again, I doubt I can cite a specific example without extensive Googling, but this truly has been the case. Democrats have historically been very friendly to leftists. Again, it's a free country. I'm not for locking these noodle-heads up, but they really ought to take off their utopic blinkers and take a look at the logical outcome of the things they believe in. It's all been tried before and failed, and usually with truly horrendous, holocaust-like consequences. Brother Rico, I was coincidentally just doing some musing about political and economic systems. It occurred to me that socialism and communism are still basically capitalistic systems. It's just that the capital that is used is different, valued differently, or comes in a different form. Under the onerous constraints of socialism and communism, people spend much more of their time trading in the capital of the ways and means to gain protection from the state itself. One does a lot of knuckling under to the authorities in order to survive or gain favors. It's quite shocking, brother Rico, that these things aren't shocking to more people. But the truth is pretty nasty. I think the Democrats bought a LOT of capital for themselves via McCarthy (or one could say McCarthy gave them decades worth of cover). People are shy about pointing the communist finger at people because it is still so easy in this day and age to play the "have you no shame" self-righteous card. But I, for one, will not be intimidated. If someone wants to be a communist or socialist then fine. But I'm going to tell you the things that communists and socialists believe in and their track history including TRUE gulags and death camps. It's just like if somebody wants to play at being a Nazi or Neonazi then Im going to point out the recent track record of fascists. Let the people decide, but we ought to let the people know first. We shouldn't shy away from the truth. These leftist have been undermining this country for decades nowor have been trying to. It's time to confront their ideas head-on because if they ever were to win outright there would likely be no easy way to confront their ideas since their ideologies are totalitarian and they tend to gobble up ideas like freedom and freedom of speech. One can already see the problems with speech in Europe and on American universities where the far left is in control. They like control. They don't like true diversity, the kind of diversity that lets all ideas be heard. They are, at heart, anti-people and pro-aristocracy. I believe in the creative potential and latent decency of each and every person. They believe the opposite. One view is life-affiming. The other is not. That's why one leads to freedom and the other - ultimately, when taken to its logical conclusion as so often happens - leads to murder and gulags. |

I wish I could recall which president it was who said that it would be wrong to underestimate the American people.
Congress now enjoys a 33% approval rating. It's like 1992 all over again. Bill Wilson (republican) on "inspiration": "Quite often, however, the thoughts that SEEM to come from God are not answers at all. They prove to be well-intentioned unconscious rationalizations...indeed any man, who tries to run his life rigidly by this kind of prayer, by this self-serving demand of God for replies, is a particularly disconcerting individual. To any questioning or criticism of his actions he instantly proffers his reliance upon prayer for guidance in all matters great or small. He may have forgotten the possibility that his own wishful thinking and the human tendency to rationalize have distorted this so-called guidance. With the best of intentions, he tends to force his own will into all sorts of situations and problems with the comfortable assurance that he is acting under God's specific direction. Under such an illusion, he can of course wreak great havoc without the least intending it." You know what Ben Franklin said about a word to the wise... caritas, mm <*))))))>< |

What Dean et al need to realize is that the appeal of Republicans is to America's middle class.
- see http://www.nationalreview.com/...dres200506130738.asp Maybe what Dean really meant to say whas that the U.S. Republican Party is the party of the middle class. That's wouldn't be too smart, however, especially if he meant is as a kind of insult -- as he did when he spoke of it as the Party of White Christians. Oh well . . . see how many elections can be won without the support of the middle class. |

Socialism and communism lack the basic fundamental principle that makes capitalism work so well. Good Faith. Free markets thrive because of it. It does not exist in socialism or communism. For example an Uncle of someone I have known all my life died because of the lack of good faith in europeon socialized medicine. Socialized medicine professes to be health care for all it's citizens. In the case of my friends Unlce who I would guess to have be around 70 had some blocked arteries in his heart. Under socialized medicine he had to wait at the mercy of the state to get the arteries cleared. He had no alternative. He died before he even recieved the surgery. I would not doubt that his death is factored into the socialized system. Instead of treating him early as he desperately needed the system is set up so patients like him are made to wait on purpose. If he makes it the months to his scheduled angioplasty he will be treated but stastically they are pushing the odds that he will not make it. If he dies it is less of a burden to the system. Dean and the democractic party are promising these types of empty plans that socialism brings. Jimmy Carter is another prime example of how far left the party has become. Carter is another Castro lover. Carter within recent years has visited Cuba praising it's health care system as a model for the rest of the world. What was Carter again. Was Carter really President of the United States? Everyone defends Carter by saying how he is intelligent. Carter has shown no intelligence his entire political career. Even the peace accords between Isreal and Egypt. That is another one if you scratch at the surface you will probably find that Nixon actually set everything in motion for the peace agreement to take place. Carter was just there in relation to time when it was inked. The democractic party base is the inner city. Dean's comments that Republicans never worked an honest day in their lives and are white christians is playing to this base. This is the type of hate language that is being pushed in the inner cities. The quotes I cited above were from people that are seen as distiquished and educated award winning scholars. The sad thing is people fully buy into this hate. In doing so they have become the bigots they claim to oppose. |

Re: socialized medicine
I think Ronald Reagan said it best in this following speach. I also remember hearing him talk more specifically about socialized medicine in the context of, say, how would you like it if all electricians suddenly were socialized and run by the state, told what they could charge, who they could work for, when the could work, etc. And so why is this any better if we do the same thing to the health care industry? -------------------------------

What a good example of how historical facts can be altered. I am not sure how or where I picked up the supposed quote. I never saw the pearl harbor movie. Probably some misguided A&E special. The Reagan speech is very timeless. I like it even more that it is from 1964. The democratic party leadership with Dean at the helm has shifted completely to a whole other dimension. A name that comes to mind is Howard Zinn. I saw Howard Zinn give a lecture. What a phony. His lecture became so ridiculous that at one point I burst out laughing so hard it gave me a cramp in my side. Good thing it was at a point when everyone else were clapping. Zinn started the lecture off by saying that the American dream does not exist. That it is a big lie. Then he goes on about his life and how he was a bombardier over Europe in WW2. On the GI bill he goes to Columbia. Then on to a scholarly career in Boston as an author selling millions of copies of his books. What? Howard I thought the American dream is fake. His own life contradicts his ideaology. |

It's a great country, ain't it? This is the type of stuff the Founding Fathers surely had in mind. They knew that any form of government had to be able to withstand demagogues and extreme cynicism. It had to be able to withstand challenges to its very core philosophy and that is that people should be free to scope out their own lives. But right now the Democratic Party is selling pessimism. They're selling hate. They're selling envy. They seem to me to be emotionally and ideologically bankrupt. And that really is not good news for the country. As Phil said somewhere back (or somewhere over), we need a good oppositional party in this country if only to keep the other side in check. But surely the Democrat Party's leftist class-warfare, anti-capitalist (think of the demagoguery regarding corporations and business), pro-socialist tilt shows the mindset of the leaders. These are all the best and brightest who have, for all intents and purposes, been educated by today's Karl Marx Universities spread throughout the country. I think the basic dynamic at play, brother Rico (especially if one takes a peek over at Europe) is that our material success has made us spoiled (some more than others, obviously). People forget just how risky and contingent reality usually is and has been for the previous few million years. Only in the last fifty or so have we seen such enormous prosperity, technological progress, and relative safety. We have begun to expect these things to be the status quo. I, for one, have no problem with wanting peace, prosperity and safety to be the status quo. But it's a status quo that must be appreciated against the backdrop of historical reality which is that people suffer horribly due to wars, disease, poverty, tyranny, etc., etc. The long-story-short here is that people forget just what an amazing accomplishment democracy is, just how amazing free marketing capitalism is, just how lucky we are to have a strong western military alliance against the forces of darkness. Stupid, spoiled, idiotic, utopic, short-sighted people are actually prepared to tear these things down for being horribly insufficient because, gosh, there are people in the world suffering (and ironically, particularly in other parts of the world, this is so because they do not have the institutions we have here -- and yet such is their built-up distaste for these institutions that they will use the poor people of the world as their socialist/Marxist guinea pigs). In Buddhism there's a notion called "right action" and this, more than anything I can think of, shows how good intentions and having it in one's heart to help other people is not enough. One MUST be wise about one's actions or else one will quickly find oneself actually doing much more harm than good. |

Apparently at one time he also called for the assassination of bin Laden and Saddam. I guess Im going to have to take a look at who this Venezuelan presendent, Chavez, really is and what hes done to incur Robertsons wrath. I doubt it was because he raised taxes or something. It could be that this guy is a real monster. But heck, there are people on the left calling for Bushs assassination almost every other day. I dont hear much complain about this from the media. Maybe this is just another opportunity for the left to take a swipe at both conservatives and Christians. Its sort of a twofer. |
||||

Brad,
Your wish is my command: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Chavez http://www.ihatepatrobertson.com/ I'm a bit cynical about Pat. I voted for him in the 1988 Republican primary election, read at least a half a dozen of his books and watched the 700 Club for years. I trusted him and he has let me down far too often. FWIW, Hawkins calibrates 700 Club at 400, and South America at 285-310. Chavez has links to Castro, which is a poor character reference. Would I rather have lunch with Hugo Chavez? No way! |
||||
|
Well, sure looks like Chavez is far, far left. Wikipedia didn't detail his humanitarian crimes, if any, but if one keeps company with Castro and Saddam then it doesn't matter how much land he redistributes or how many social programs he funds with oil. Very bad things eventually come from such people.
I'm a bit cynical about Pat. I should simply stick to the tactics of the left and note that Robertson has the right of free speech like everyone else. That's how they justify the daily utterances of their kooks (and there kooks are legion and hardly just from the fringe). But one expects more from both conservatives and Christians. So should we assassinate Chavez? Actually, I just don't know enough about his humanitarian crimes, if any. I don't know enough about his support for terrorism, if any. I don't know enough about his attempts to undermine other democratic governments in South America, if any. Only time will tell if Pat was rightand I concede that he could be right. |

Hhhhmmmm.... Maybe Pat knows something? Far, far left?
Jimmy Carter and Jesse Jackson as Phil Donahue have had their picture taken with... Oh, nevermind! |
