A great deal has been noted about the reaction to terrorism - mostly inadequate from our point of view. This site, which interprets arab-language media, gives a view of some not so positive reactions - something of which we don't see much.

If that signifies a trend, then good. It would certainly lend evidence to the idea that terrorism has been winked at in the past, if not outright promoted and financed, and that only when it is considered illegitimate by the rank and file will it likely be squashed. That is also to say that perhaps even up until now it has not been considered particularly illegitimate in the Muslim world. And what may cause some people to "get religion" is the fact that the United States and her partners are making it quite painful to support it. Without something or somebody providing open and effective opposition to terrorism, you would find far fewer Muslims in open opposition to it. Maybe there is hope yet.

Good to see the Arab world fomenting its own devisiveness.
MEMRI is a very important link countering much of the propaganda of the region. |
