Here's the beginning of a list of mostly conservative websites, where authors attempt to cut-through the PC, and often anti-Semetic, liberal view of this region of the world and its political and cultural strugggles with the west:

That one's hard to beat, w.c. One could follow up on those all day and never get to the bottom.

You might also wade through all the links at http://www.drudgereport.com/ and you'll find a lot of good ones, there. Don't forget to close the popup windows afterward, however. Wink

But seriously(wait, I was being serious!), the policy research and analysis section of The Heritage Foundation is a good place to shop for the occasional interesting article such as Why Religious Values Support American Values.

quote:
Let me now draw our attention to a Christian concept that lies at the intersection of biblical religion and the American democratic tradition: It is the necessity of authentic faiththe idea that genuine religious belief must be freely chosen, unharassed by human authorities, whether religious or secular. Authentic faith is a religious and a political necessity. It is a religious necessity because the Christian tradition views conscience as the realm of belief formed through reason and conviction, not through force or violence. Through persuasion, not coercion.
However, having said that, I now feel coercive pressure (or was that "opportunistic" pressure?) to become a Catholic in order to get in line with the soon-to-be demographic of the highest court of the land.

quote:
The American approach to religious freedom immediately surpassed the European experience: It rejected Christendoms fusion of church and state, as well as the radical Enlightenments brooding hostility to faith.
They're still brooding.
