I think, Phil, they�re pretty much trying to play out the belief that violence and human misery are due only to the presence of such things as militaries and guns. That�s now a bedrock liberal belief. And while federalism is meant to promote and support such "diversity" and experimentation, and I�m glad that it does, people forget that it is only the rather large and formidable American military that keeps, say, China out of our back yards so that the overly-idealistic can create these archipelagos in which their delusions may seem to have some real coherence with reality.

They ought to be voting on initiatives, even if these initiatives are necessarily non-binding, for China, Cuba, North Korea, Iran, and a host of other belligerent countries to disarm. But if one has been raised on a healthy dose of America-hatred and revisionist history, then one will be so dense as to see the quite literal "arsenal of freedom" as their number one concern in regards to world peace.
